Description
The illustration depicts a Roman legionary in crested helmet, shoulder plates and sandals, cloak over one arm. He carries a flat-bottomed paper sack against his hip, from which protrude a baguette, leafed vegetables and assorted produce.
The subject is in contact with packaged provisions that postdate his service by many centuries. The Bureau observes a routine collection performed in the wrong era and files it as a collection performed in the wrong era. No correction was attempted.
